Shiran leads product and AI strategy across Elsevier’s global healthcare education portfolio. She led the development and launch of StudyFinder AI, the AI-powered study companion embedded within ClinicalKey Student, deployed across 1,700 institutions in 60+ countries. Her AI work focuses on identifying high-value use cases within real learning workflows and ensuring outputs are grounded in trusted content in healthcare and education contexts.

Professor Juan José Beunza Nuin

Professor of Public Health and Interprofessional Education and Director of the AI and Health Research Group (IASalud) at the European University of Madrid (UEM)

Juan is a medical doctor specializing in Internal and Tropical Medicine, with a doctorate in cardiovascular epidemiology and nutrition and a Master of Science in Public Health from Harvard. He currently serves as a Professor at the Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM). His research has long focused on applying predictive algorithms and machine learning to healthcare, and he is the Director of IASalud-UEM – a research group dedicated to the practical application of AI in health and medical education. Juan is the author of "Manual práctico de inteligencia artificial para entornos sanitarios" (Elsevier, 2020), a practical guide to AI in healthcare settings, and sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Interprofessional Care and the Board of Directors of CAIPE (UK).

Pippa Furey

Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Practice and Emergency Care at Nottingham Trent University; National AI Lead (Education) at the Royal College of Paramedics 

Pippa began her career in frontline emergency care before qualifying as a paramedic in 2018. After five years in clinical practice, she transitioned into paramedic education and now teaches at Nottingham Trent University. Alongside her teaching, Pippa researches the integration of AI in healthcare education, exploring how AI can transform learning environments and contribute to improved patient outcomes, as well as its ethical, practical and pedagogical implications.

She is the National AI Lead (Education) at the Royal College of Paramedics, consulting on integrating AI into paramedic training, and advised the Health and Care Professions Council on its Standards of Education and Training (SET) review, with a specific focus on the integration of AI.

Senior Vice President in Medical Education Partnerships at Elsevier

David has had a long career in educational technology, both in the UK and USA. Since joining Elsevier, he has been responsible for driving the medical and nursing education product strategy –launching ClinicalKey Student in 2018 and growing the portfolio both organically and by acquisition to a value of $90 million.

In his new role as Senior Vice President of Medical Education Partnerships, David focuses on building relationships with medical and nursing education leaders. As we navigate the challenges AI brings to education, David listens to a wide range of voices in the field and shares Elsevier’s approach to AI, in line with its responsible AI principles. Most recently, he has presented at the AMEE conference, led a workshop on the impact of AI on education in South Africa, and continues to share his perspective regularly on LinkedIn.
